French Quarter set to roll
Much of the coverage surrounding the first anniversary of Hurricane Katrina will focus on the still-abandoned neighborhoods and the bureaucratic lethargy that hampers the rebuilding effort in New Orleans. But the areas that attract the most visitors -- the French Quarter, the Garden District and the Warehouse and Arts District -- escaped much of the storm and flood damage and now are leading the city's recovery.

Personal music players: An artwork in progress
It wasn't long ago that a visitor to an art museum caught listening to a personal music player in the galleries could expect a sharp rebuke from the guards. Now it's encouraged. One of the fastest-growing trends at art museums is the so-called iPod tour -- an audio tour that visitors can download to their personal iPods or other portable music players from their home computers before heading to the museum.

Aer Lingus flight from N.Y. evacuated
An Aer Lingus flight from New York was evacuated during a stopover in western Ireland Friday morning following a bomb threat, airport authorities said. A search of the plane and baggage at Shannon airport found nothing alarming, and the security alert was ended shortly before noon, Aer Lingus said.

TSA considers easing ban on liquids
The government is studying whether it can allow airline passengers to carry small amounts of now-banned liquids onto airplanes, the Transportation Security Administration said Thursday. Kip Hawley, the head of TSA, said the agency wants to find a way to meet the needs of travelers while keeping them safe from the threat of explosives.

British say liquids ban and carry-on restrictions will continue indefinitely
The British government said Friday that airline passengers face a continued ban on carrying liquids, cosmetics and gels on board flights for the foreseeable future. Carry-on restrictions were imposed Aug. 10, after British police disclosed they had foiled a terrorist plot to smuggle bomb components aboard planes headed for the USA

O'Hare flight caps in place through 2008
The Federal Aviation Administration on Thursday extended by two years a cap on the number of flights into O'Hare International Airport in an effort to curtail delays at one of the world's busiest airports.
