INFO on Cubat

Cayo Coco(Coco Kay) is an island in central Cuba, well known for its luxury all inclusive resorts. It lies within the Ciego de Ávila Province and is part of a chain of islands called Jardines del Rey ("King's Gardens"). The cay is administered by the Morón municipality.
Cayo Coco is the forth island in term of size forming the Cuban archipelago; with 370 square kilometers, it is located to the Atlantic cost of Cuba, close to the Canal Viejo de Bahamas. It is linked to the main land by a stone road, 17 km long
Today, Cayo Coco is a paradisiacal place relevant for the balance and degree of preservation of the ecosystem it has attained , by protecting its virgin atmosphere isolated from modern world
Its beach is 10 Km long, of fine sand and warm and crystal-clear waters
A privileged reserve for flora and fauna, this key hosts species such as the wading birds, particularly the coconut the island was named after, the gray heron, and the pink flamingo which total over 30 000 and is among the biggest herds in the world. It is also favorite habitat for other bird species such as the cormorant, woodpecker, mockingbird, pelicans and many duck species.
A 10-30 Mt. coral reef, over 10 Km long, adds more attraction to the place; the diversity and abundance of marine species make divers feel in a real aquarium.
Very few places in the world can compete with such beauty; one may find the Mega lops atlantica, the Trachinotus sp. and the Chaetodipterus faber, as well as big snappers (Lutjanus sp.), meros (Ephinephelus sp.), sharks and barracudas, adding more attractive to diving at the places "Coco Diving Center" may offer.

Cuba is graced with a string of sun soaked isles jutting out into the brilliant blue sea. The two best known are Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo, both of which feature well appointed, relaxing resorts. Environmental regulations have kept development low, leaving the 155 bird species that call the cayos home with a nearly untouched natural habitat. The flat terrain lends itself well to walking and cycling through this island paradise, while the white sand beaches are a perfect place to relax and forget about the rush of the modern world. Cayo Coco is connected to the mainland by a 20km causeway. It is part of the Archipelago de Camaguey, an ecological zone that includes 402km of coral reef. The area’s most important waterway is the Chamba River, where the Liberacion de Florencia Hydraulic Complex was built. The river is great for fresh-water fishing, and the area’s reservoirs, such as La Redonda lagoon, is ideal for trout fishing.

Cayo Coco is located on the Atlantic coast of Cuba, close to the Canal Viejo de Bahamas. A 10-30 meter-deep coral reef, which is also over 10 km long, adds to the island's attractions; the diversity and abundance of marine species make divers feel as though they were in a real aquarium.
Very few places in the world can compete with such beauty. In the waters of the reserve one may find the Megalops atlantica, the Trachinotus and the Chaetodipterus faber, as well as big snapples, meros, sharks and barracudas, each one adding a little more charm to the experience of diving at the places the "Coco Diving Center" has to offer.
Cayo Coco is connected to Cayo Guillermo whose five kilometers of beaches eagerly await visitors interested in establishing a closer relationship with nature.
